Comparing abortion to Holocaust wrong
I'm sorry that people have yet to realize they need to think before they speak. After reading the article "Students rally at Old Main, hold vigil to protest abortion" (April 1), I was shocked to see someone relate abortion to the Holocaust. First of all, Bryan McKinney might want to wait until the day he must carry a child in him to say anything about a woman's decisions. There are so many circumstances that surround abortions, including rape, the ability to adequately care for the child and so on, that it should be no man's right to say a woman must bear a child. And if you cannot grasp this concept, just think: You're married; have a nice job; a quite home; a wonderful wife. Your wife comes home and a horrible event has happened. She has been raped. Your wife now bears the seed of another man -- a rapist -- and that man's child will grow in her womb. That child can grow up, find out he or she is not yours and be traumatized when he or she finds out the father raped his or her mother. Not to mention who knows what disease the rapist might have. Not a pretty picture, but it happens. Can you honestly say that woman must bear the child of a man that raped her? Would you tell her it is not her decision? Second, to say that there is a "baby-killing factory" that is no different than Auschwitz is downright wrong. I don't care if you're pro-choice or pro-life; relating abortion to the Holocaust is offensive and you completely disregard the people whose lives have been affected by such a horrible display of human indecency, to say the least. Next time, think before you spit out your words. Benjamin Hammel
