With the fifth highest qualifying score in the field, the Penn State men's gymnastics team was announced as part of the 2005 NCAA Championship field Wednesday. The defending national champions, Penn State also returns the 2004 NCAA all-around champion in Luis Vargas.

Penn State owns an NCAA-record 11 national championships, finishing higher than third on 27 different occasions. The Nittany Lions have won two of the five championships awarded since the year 2000. The team championship and all-around title will be contested at 7 p.m. on April 8. The event finals will be held at 7 p.m. the following day, April 9.
