University policy will allow discrimination
Once again, the university has solidified its commitment to treating minority students with a "separate and unequal" mentality. With the recently proposed terms to settle the DiscipleMakers lawsuit, the university has guaranteed that as a woman, I can be a member of various groups on campus, but if they decide that women cannot hold leadership positions for religious or other reasons, I will be denied the right to do so. How is it possible that the university can "be committed to its nondiscrimination policy" but only protect students who are not interested in taking leadership roles? What if Penn State allowed people of color to work for the university but not to be directors or vice provosts? How is this different? Penn State has an obligation to foster leadership among all of its students, regardless of their race, religion, sex, sexual orientation or any other protected category. Sara Ryan
