Ignorance will no longer be bliss if a bill requiring tanning salon patrons to sign a written statement outlining the risks of tanning is passed by the Pennsylvania legislature.

State College is proving to be a desirable destination for conventions and weekend warriors in the midst of a national tourism recovery period.

In the first successful re-election campaign in Undergraduate Student Government (USG) history, Galen Foulke (junior-premedicine) and Luke Adams (junior-premedicine) will remain USG president and vice president, beating the second-place candidates by 1,298 votes yesterday.

Jen Harris said Monday from her home in Harrisburg that she was not fully aware of the consequences when she filed for her release from the Penn State women's basketball program early last week.

Everything seemed to go the Penn State baseball team's way yesterday at Beaver Field.

It appeared as though the Penn State softball team would have some pleasantly warm weather for its first home game of the season, but as the sun dropped over the plethora of IM soccer games taking place across Park Avenue a chill befell notoriously nippy Nittany Lion Field.

David was fortunate to have sling and stone to bring down Goliath centuries ago.

Forward Aaron Johnson's exit from the Penn State men's basketball program marks the seventh player to leave the team since Ed DeChellis took over in April 2003.

"Maybe we just needed an hour to get warmed up, just an hour of warmups in doubles," Penn State men's tennis player Bradley Hunter said last Friday after the No. 63 Nittany Lions defeated Purdue.

For freshman Gayle Hunter, her knee could be a ticking time bomb. That is why she wants to qualify in the heptathlon, and qualify ASAP.

Everyone likes to talk about home-court, home-field, or home-course advantage in sports. There are all sorts of advantages teams can use when playing at home, from knowing their field or court to having the support of the friendly crowd behind them.

After a knee injury ended his hopes of being part of the 2005 Major League Soccer (MLS) SuperDraft three months ago, former Nittany Lion Chad Severs is back turning his dream of playing professional soccer into reality.

What exactly is post-punk laptop rap?

Music genres will collide this weekend at the HUB-Robeson Center when bands compete for a spot on the Movin' On sidestage during the annual Battle of the Bands competition.

Amy Denholtz is bringing women to the forefront of theater with her second show for No Refund Theatre (NRT), A Day in the Lives of Women , at 8 p.m. tomorrow night and Saturday in 111 Forum.

There are two suicide attempts, an almost-rape, a big serpent monster, a couple priests, some star-crossed lovers, a comedy team of two goofballs, a little sex and a lot of love.

We love you Conrad, oh yes we do!

"I'm never setting foot in the theater again," Julia Kent announces. As a senior theatre major, this comes as a surprise. After all, Kent has spent the past four years training for a life in the theater, and years before that dreaming of what such a life might entail.

Forget the smoky, dimly lit lounge with only the loud cry of a saxophone to voice the exhaustion felt by the retired workers in their seats.

Pollock Recreation Room will be turned into a punk-rock asylum on Saturday, when The Asylum, Penn State's club for underground music, presents its first punk-rock show of the semester.

It has been said that the backbone of country music is the understanding of everyday life.

"I don't watch much TV."

Jimmy Smith died last month. You probably didn't notice.

Imagine Lucky Charms without the charms, newspapers without photos, Demi without Ashton, a restaurant without appetizers or the sky without clouds. Pretty dull, huh? And what do all these things have to do with each other? The latter accessories the former; without it, she/it is boring, blends in with the rest of the mediocre crowd, and is soon forgotten. But of course, nowhere in life are accessories as crucial as they are in fashion. Without them you're just another walk in any ol' park. But with the right accessories, you're Central Park on a perfect sunny day.

Allen Street Grill, 100 W. College Ave., will feature Bill Filer. Specials include happy hour from 10 p.m. to midnight with half-priced well liquor (231-4745).

Right now the temperatures are perfect for homebrewing beer.
