It has been said that the backbone of country music is the understanding of everyday life.
The popular country music band Lonestar will show off its talents at its first ever Eisenhower Auditorium show at 8 p.m. April 3.
The Texas-native quartet is composed of lead singer Richie McDonald, guitarist Michael Britt, keyboardist Dean Sams and drummer Keech Rainwater, and has been playing together for nearly a decade.
In its almost 10 years together, the band has released seven CDs including a greatest hits album and, most recently, Let's Be Us Again. Their accomplishments also include having several No. 1 singles on the Billboard Top Country Music charts.
The band has also earned more Top 10 Billboard records than any other act this decade.
Lonestar's current single, "Let's Be Us Again," is currently No. 5 on the Billboard Country Music charts. The band has just finished recording its eighth CD, still untitled, which will be released in the near future.
"Recently the band has had a strong youth following at live performances," said Lonestar publicist Lori Genes of PFA Entertainment Media and Marketing.
Even with State College's diverse music scene, country music finds its niche.
"Country music events usually sell very well and Lonestar has had quite a few hits and they get a lot of radio play, even on non-country stations. So this should be a successful event," said Eisenhower Marketing Director Laura Sullivan.
Tickets are available at the Arts Ticket Center, located in Eisenhower Auditorium, as well as the HUB ticket outlet and the Downtown Theatre Center. Tickets can also be ordered by phone at 863-0255.
Sullivan said student prices are not available for Lonestar because the performance is not part of the regular Center for the Performing Arts season and does not have funding from the University Park Allocations Committee.
