Skip your classes if holiday is important

A friend and I were talking about getting off on the day after Easter since we had just gotten off of school from Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This reminded me of my high school and the different paths you can take.

The first path is to get off for everything.

Classes need to be cancelled for every holiday, no matter for if it's an obscure celebration from an obscure religion.

If it's celebrated, in the name of equality, we need to have it off.

The second path is to celebrate nothing. In the name of equality and for not leaving anyone out (actually not including anyone), you need to celebrate no holidays during the semester.

The problem is that Penn State is starting down the first path.

They gave us MLK day, people are now demanding the day after Easter. What's next?

Do we really want to take finals the first week of June just so we can have many days off during the semester?

I say suck it up. If it's really that important to you, skip the classes and e-mail your professors as to what you're doing.
