Film majors not helped by university policies
This letter is in gratitude to the article written by Nicholas Norcia concerning the relocation of the film department to Innovation Park ("Film majors upset with relocation," March 21). Not only has all of the film equipment and some of the classrooms been relocated but the university does not assist the students in when it comes to productions. Unless you intend to shoot a film in a classroom, the students have no choice but to film off campus. Shooting a scene in a coffee shop is nearly impossible because places such as MacKinnon's, under the library, are only leased out by Penn State. They will not allow students to film projects on location. It is a sad sign when the university will not assist students in furthering the creative process by demanding that all on-campus facilities be open to the students for filming purposes. Craig T.
