Health Question & Answer
Answered by UHS

Question:
What does it mean on a blood profile test when the MCH is elevated above normal standards, along with an elevated WBC?

Answer:
MCH and WBC are not related. WBC stands for white blood count. MCH stands for mean corpuscular hemoglobin. It is a measurement of the weight of hemoglobin in the average red blood cell. This test is not directly measured by an instrument but calculated using the patient hemoglobin concentration and total red blood cell count.

However, we can't really interpret their specific meaning without knowing more about the person who had the test, their symptoms and their past health history. To find out what the results mean in a specific case, the patient should ask his or her clinician to explain the meaning.
