Senior guards Jess Strom and Tanisha Wright have been selected to play in the 2005 WBCA All-Star Challenge Game on April 2 in Indianapolis. The WBCA All-Star Challenge features 17 of the top senior NCAA Division I players, voted on by Division I WBCA-member head coaches.
Wright and Strom led Penn State to a 19-10 regular-season record, including four wins against top-10 opponents, and were named first-team all-Big Ten selections. Wright also snagged her third straight Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year Award.
Known for her defensive prowess, Wright took her offensive game to new heights this year, finishing the regular season as the Big Ten's leading scorer at 19.6 points per game.
Strom became the fourth player in Big Ten history to eclipse 700 assists, leading the Big Ten in that category for much of the year. Strom also ranked among the league's best in steals, free -throw percentage and 3-point shooting.
