Leaving Carlisle best for success of DSL

I am currently living in Southern California and am in my third year of law school. As an occasional reader of The Daily Collegian, I was surprised to read about litigation regarding relocation of the Dickinson School of Law. In 2002, Dickinson was among the law schools I was admitted to.

I went to visit the campus, and decided to decline the offer for one reason: location.

Had Dickinson been located in State College, I wouldn't have hesitated to attend. One matter of importance to me, and I imagine to other law school applicants, is resources. As long as Dickinson is in Carlisle, it will fail to draw the top students it is capable of attracting. A location in State College would offer the resources of the entire university as well as the job market of Centre County and surrounding regions.

Superior public universities like Berkeley, Michigan, University of Virginia and North Carolina all have law schools on their campuses. If Penn State is to maintain its status as a superior public university for the distant future, I believe it is essential for Dickinson to relocate to State College. But this is just my opinion.
