[ Monday, Feb. 28, 2005 ] Letter to the Editor
Column on grammar waste of time, space
As a member of the post-college, boring, working, middle-class, I enjoy my lunchtime to get away from work and read some articles from The Digital Collegian. However, the content of Jen Winberry's "thrilling" article about grammar ("College-level grammar lost on college students," Feb. 25) nearly put me to sleep. I read the Collegian to find out what is going on at Penn State, to remind me of my time at school. Nobody cares about how Jen feels when people speak. Interesting articles from the opinion page have been about Thon, sports teams, classes, getting hammered on the weekend and so on. If I wanted to read about grammar, I would contact my sixth grade English teacher. Just because a Collegian columnist has a forum to write about whatever they choose, please at least set the guideline to make it interesting. And for the record, I hope this letter is full of grammar mistakes. Erik Snyder
