All ethnicities blessed to live in United States
As Americans, whatever ethnicity you may be, I think we all take for granted the blessing we have of living in this country. Sure, there are going to be intolerable acts against everyone, but I advise us all to take a look at the larger picture. Throughout our world today a serious hate crime would result in a blast killing 10 and injuring 15. Sure, there are going to be prejudices here. After all, America has been an enormous melting pot of race and ethnicity for centuries. At least we don't kill each other in masses on a day-to-day basis. Maybe our melting pot needs to focus on taking the bad with the good. The age-old adage "sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me" proves to be quite wise in this situation. No matter what ill-conceived event happens to us in State College today, as Americans we still have the good fortune of waking up tomorrow to start a new day. This great country has enormously changed again and again throughout its past. Those changes didn't happen over night, so perhaps we need to have faith in the fact that in due time, the things we are all so concerned with will indeed change. Furthermore, the fault can not be connected to one specific source. As much as we all hate to admit it, the fault lies in the hands of us all. I think we are being a bit selfish as we sit back and point fingers, and severely ungrateful to be living this life of freedom. Doug Wilson
