Letter to the Editor
Letter about photo shames PSU alumni

Until last Thursday, I was proud to call myself an alumnus of Penn State. But after reading the remarks of Chris Kovalchick, I just don't know what to do. What do I say when someone asks me where I went to school?

How do I defend a university that allows calculated and premeditated hate speech? It seems to me that the time has come for sweeping reforms.

In my days at Penn State, hate speech was conducted against another minority group; a group that took a stand -- who refused to tolerate bigoted dissent. If you younger students don't know what "The Village" is, I suggest you look it up.

In times of extreme prejudice, peaceful, social disobedience is one means of bringing about much needed changes in our culture. I urge the LGBTA and it's allies to take a stand by occupying the HUB to promote awareness for your noble cause.
