Letter to the Editor
Letters in support further stereotypes

I commend the Collegian for devoting significant space to publishing letters that rebut Chris Kovalchick's odious rant. I further understand the Collegian's decision to print letters in support of Mr. Kovalchick.

I wish, however, that the Collegian had exercised more discretion in selecting the letters. Both letters supporting Mr. Kovalchick were written by students in the College of Agriculture, thus perpetuating a stereotype about agriculture students.

I have had the pleasure of teaching many students from the College of Agriculture; most -- but sadly, not all -- have been open-minded and tolerant. Moreover, Mr. Kovalchick's homophobic views are not limited to the College of Agriculture.

Hate knows no boundary of college or major. Please do not exacerbate a bad situation by inadvertently reinforcing a negative stereotype about agriculture students.
