Letter to the Editor
Readers respond to ‘hateful’ letter about photo

I do not know how to describe how I feel right now. Enraged would be close. Disappointed would be about there as well. I cannot understand how anyone representing any portion of our college could speak out in such an ignorant manner as Mr. Kovalchick did in his letter.

To say that people are disgusting and pathetic simply because they are homosexuals is more offensive than anything I have encountered in my life. I personally do not agree with that form of a lifestyle, but that does not give me any right whatsoever to condemn it. I admit that it disturbs me to see two men kissing in public.

Still, I sat in my room and cried tears of anger because of the things you said. To say that any of my friends, that any of my family does not matter -- that they are disgusting and pathetic hurts me more than if you had beaten me until I needed hospitalization.

I wish I could make the same implication toward you that you made toward the many people you attacked and say that people like you don't matter, but the truth is that you do. You have a vote in any and everything that goes on in the world around you. You help elect our officials who pass our laws and run our government. People like you do matter, and quite honestly it scares me.
