Letter to the Editor
Readers respond to ‘hateful’ letter about photo

It seems former USG Senator Kovalchick has come out of the hate closet. In his letter, he claims to have been disgusted by a picture of "queers kissing in public." He also states that gays are not "real people" or "honest people" and are "disgusting and pathetic". Thankfully, Mr. Senator, you resigned before you were able to kill your university government career with only 107 words. In terms of outright stupidity and lack of forward thinking as to the repercussions of your statements, I think that this may top Howard Dean's scream or Senator Jesse Helms' racist comments. At the risk of sounding like a preacher, I am frankly disgusted at the level of bigotry I have witnessed in the conservative student body here. It's people like you who give conservatives like myself a bad name.

Luckily you are no longer a senator of our student government. Otherwise, this is the part of the letter where I would call for an impeachment, but as it stands you are just another student here at Penn State.

So I will close with this: Your words were not only very disparaging but uneducated and bitter. In the future, please keep your thoughts to yourself or abide by that old adage of keeping your mouth shut if you have nothing intelligent to say.
