Fraternity fails to appear for hearing

Delta Upsilon fraternity, 229 Locust Lane, did not appear for a scheduled sentencing in Centre County Courthouse on Friday, Judge Thomas Kistler said.

According to the court documents, the fraternity was scheduled to appear on Friday and submit a guilty plea in response to charges of furnishing liquor to minors and unlawful acts related to liquor.

The incident occurred Oct. 1, when an unidentified minor reported to police that she was served beer inside the fraternity, according to court documents.

The minor stated that she was not asked for her age before being served beer.

Kistler said the fraternity did not request a continuance before the court date, but the fraternity can still report to the courthouse for its sentencing tomorrow.
