Letter to the Editor
Readers respond to ‘hateful’ letter about photo

This is in response to yesterday's absolutely appalling letter to the editor from Chris Kovalchick. Let me first say that I am absolutely sickened by your blatant bigotry and dismissal of the LGBTA community as "real people." Having said that, I am even further enraged and ashamed that people like you exist, let alone you formerly represented Penn State in the Undergraduate Student Government.

For you to exclude the LGBTA community in the character class of "good, honest people, striving everyday to make a positive difference," is a huge and unequivocally wrong assumption. There are plenty of people, both heterosexual and otherwise, who work every day to make the world a better place, and you unfortunately are one of the few people who are working to destroy that. Many members of the LGBTA are active participants in Thon and other community service projects as well. Explain to me how publishing a picture that portrays affection and love in a world with so little (and on a holiday celebrating love) is somehow wrong, but for you to spew ignorant and unfounded comments is somehow justified? My suggestion to you, Mr. Kovalchick, is that you shut your mouth and open your ears, because your close-minded and uncultured comments are nothing short of disgusting and pathetic.
