Current USG leaders ruin faith in system
I'm writing this letter in response the recent USG story ("Assembly president calls for apology," Feb. 14). In the past couple of months -- more like, the past year and half -- I've read numerous front-page articles like this one about our "prestigious" Undergraduate Student Government. And not surprisingly, of all those articles that I've read, I don't think even a handful of them have even talked about what USG is doing for us as students, the "constituents" that they've been chosen to represent. All I hear about is the petty bulls--- that goes on or has been going on in within and among the respective branches of USG. Because they're so busy fighting among each other, instead of cooperatively working towards a greater goal of enhancing student life here at Penn State, they get absolutely nothing done. I would know. I was a former representative from the Schreyer Honors College in Academic Assembly, during the same time that the current president and vice president, Mark Levin and Brad Hoagland, were also representatives. When I first joined USG, I was extremely enthusiastic about having the opportunity to do something great for PSU students. But I quickly lost that drive and passion, because of the same crap that still goes on in USG. So, I'd like to wholeheartedly thank USG for singlehandedly destroying any prior interest or enthusiasm for student government. George Soung
