Letters to Collegian show worst opinions
I'm wondering what the real motives of The Daily Collegian are. This semester alone, it has published a letter saying sexual assault isn't nearly as horrible a phenomenon as we "screaming feminists" make it out to be; and now it has featured a letter taking an illogical, cheap shot at the pro-choice. Trying to connect abortion to Social Security? Give me a break. By publishing letters expressing these absurd, unfounded arguments, is the Collegian simply attempting to provoke feminists? Or is it showing support for us, by giving greater precedence to the most ignorant of the other side, rather than those who might actually be able to make a valid point? If the latter is the case, it's really not giving us sufficient credit. I would much rather argue with a person able to convey his or her opinion intelligently and logically, without resorting to pathetic low blows, or groping to find causality where none exists. And I know from experience that many on the right are able to do this, and do it well. Alyson Rhodes
