"It's hard to believe it's already been four years," Smith said. "It's great coming out for the last time in front of great fans that have been with you for your whole career."
Smith opened the meet with a 10-1 major decision against Obe Blanc. Smith was able to take over in this rematch of a close call earlier this year.
The night was made for Penn State coach Troy Sunderland by the great effort turned in from Walker, who returned to the lineup after missing a month with a herniated disk. Walker pinned Jamie Nagel in the second period, moving the senior into fourth place all-time in career pins at Penn State (33). He also took the match's Ridge Riley Award.
"That's what my goal was all along," Walker said of getting a pin on Senior Night. "I wanted to go out from Rec Hall with a bang, and I'm happy with the second period [pin]."
Also adding a pin to Penn State's effort was James Yonushonis (174 pounds). He took down Carlos Ponce with 15 seconds remaining in the first period, putting the Lions up 20-13.
Bradley earned the Lions four more match points, with a 14-5 major decision against Mike Metzger.
Although it was a great night for the team and the seniors, the Lions know that the real honor will be finding success during the final two weeks of the season and then in postseason meets..
"It's kind of emotional -- but at the same time I've got three more matches ... and then Big Tens and Nationals," Smith said.
