Pepper spray used to subdue student

The State College Police Department used pepper spray to subdue an intoxicated 22-year-old Penn State student early Sunday morning.

Sgt. Mark Argiro said the incident began when police responded to a loud noise complaint at 924 Bellaire Ave., only to find a naked man open a second-floor apartment door.

The man slammed the door, got dressed and then jumped off the apartment balcony while police were talking to another resident, Argiro said.

The man returned to the apartment hallway wearing a white T-shirt and blue cargo pants, but struggled with police. After being sprayed, the man was taken to the police station for decontamination and released.

Charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest will most likely be filed, Argiro said.
