Letter to the Editor
Protest for own sake is not worth effort

I just want to thank Chris Menendez ("Constitution freedom assures questioning," Jan. 28) for using the tried and true method of writing, the "using big words to sound intelligent even though my argument is moronic" writing style. I totally agree that the First Amendment gives protesters the right to say whatever they want, even if they're all a bunch of idiots who clearly are so socially unacceptable that they had nothing better to do than stand outside, wave signs at traffic and scream about something happening several states away.

So while you can stand around and whine, hiding behind the most abused portion of our Constitution, other people, who also have their own opinions, will go on with their lives, looking for meaningful situations to arise in which they can voice themselves.

They might protest something that isn't already in motion and can't be stopped, you know, unlike the presidential inauguration. If you are going to protest something, do it properly.
