Meaning of religion not topic for letters
This letter is in response to the recent editorial debate on traditional versus contemporary views of Christianity. The problem with these arguments is where they originate. Both sides write about Christianity but fail to include other religious organizations. I understand America is widely a Christian-oriented country, but in order to have true discourse on this topic, all religions must be involved. Furthermore, these religions must be compared on a global level to capture all planes of thought. After studying the Bible, a more intense revision of other religions' origins is required to see the cultural progression. This also allows a look at how other groups have learned to incorporate traditional values from their respective religions and function in an ever growing technological world. The next course of action is to sit down with others who have done similar research and discuss them to better understand all points of view. The point is, please do not argue the vast mysticism of religion through letters to the Collegian. It is naive to believe any one person could "do their homework" and understand all of what any religion should mean. Religious debate is better left to those who mean to examine all of its components and work with others who have done the same. Jonathan Donlin
