Cranium!
Board game combines trivia and improvisation with art for a unique game experience.

Collegian Staff Writer

The weather outside may be frightful, but here is an idea to ease those winter blues.

When it is freezing and frosty outdoors, most people would rather stay inside where it is warm and dry rather than feel the wrath of Mother Nature. But being cooped up in a tiny dorm or apartment can lead to a bad case of boredom. Video games, TV and online poker are good temporary cures for cabin fever, but what are you going to do during the next blizzard? Here's an idea: Bust out the board games! No, I'm not talking about chess or checkers; I'm talking about a game that will get your body and mind in motion. I'm talking about a game unlike anything else you have ever experienced before. I'm talking about Cranium. Cranium isn't any ordinary board game -- it's like many of your favorite classic games, such as Pictionary and Charades, twisted and rolled into one bizarre bundle of fun. This game has a lot to offer. It is intensely interactive and its impromptu style will force you to use your imagination and powers of improvisation. You will most likely develop great skills while playing this game, such as drawing with your eyes closed, sculpting things out of clay, acting and solving puzzles. There is also a trivia element involved for all you brainiacs out there. This game has something for everyone, and is suited to please a wide variety of players.

You'll be amazed at how versatile and well-rounded this game is. One minute you will be humming an '80s pop hit and with a roll of the dice you will find yourself acting like a famous historical figure. These frequent changes in activity make it possible to play for hours without losing interest. Cranium will show you that being random rules! This game is not so much about winning or losing -- it is about seeing how far you can stretch your mind. It will stimulate your creativity, just when you thought it went into hibernation for the winter. Cranium will certainly bring any group closer together. It is sure to produce fits of hysterical laughter and memorable moments. This is one of those games that is best when it is played in groups, so grab some friends and let the wacky antics begin. Add Cranium to any lame gathering and instantly turn it into a happening celebration. Once you have played this game, you will most likely become addicted and, like me, will want to spread the news about this pleasurable pastime to everyone you know.

So the next time the snow and/or temperature is falling, don't go stir crazy -- go crazy with Cranium. Get set for a wild ride and let the games and giggling begin.
