Patton Township police posted a sign on North Atherton Street yesterday at the site of Sunday's hit-and-run accident in an attempt to find the driver of the vehicle responsible for the accident, which killed a 68-year-old Park Forest man.
Police Chief John Petrick said the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) put the sign up, which asks passersby to provide any information they may have about the accident to Patton Township police at 234-0273.
"PennDOT said that it was a very unusual request," Petrick said.
"We've never done anything like putting up a sign before," he added.
"We're hoping that people who didn't hear about this on TV, the radio or in the newspapers would see this and maybe call in to help," Petrick added. "It's just another way of reaching out to the public."
Leon Shee Sin was hit by a truck on his way home from work at Wegmans, 345 Lowes Blvd., Sunday night.
Police said the accident occurred between 10:20 and 10:53 p.m.
