This is in response to today's Collegian editorial ("New Landfill Proposal in Northern Centre Co. Should Get Focus Here," Jan. 28. I'm not writing to comment on whether I agree with the editorial or not, but when I read the last line of the editorial saying that, "We should raise our voices to stop the trend of garbage in our back yards," I wondered why the editorial didn't set forth any sort of plan for exactly how we can raise our voices.
Yes, I know the solution is obvious -- give a phone call or write a letter to local, state and federal officials - but I'm too busy studying and doing research, so I don't have time to figure out who those people are. The point is that despite my time constraints, I do want to take a more active part in local and state politics, and I'm sure plenty of others do too. Therefore, when you ask us to "raise our voices," perhaps you could give us a head start and also publish the names, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses of the legislators and others who are in charge of making such decisions. It's just a thought, you know?
