Letter to the Editor
Church leadership should not be gay

In response to Mr. Kasper and his lack of knowledge on the Bible ("Many Bible Chapters Show Scripture Dated, Jan. 28"): If you understood the book before you opened it, maybe you'd have read the New Testament as well and have a better understanding of some of those scriptures you read and their relation to the new covenant.

Please don't ever try to say you can just disregard one scripture because the rest are outdated.

The New Testament clearly states that we no longer have to sacrifice animals and other things.

But to make clear the point I believe Mr. Zimmerle ("God Loves All People But Opposes Gay Life," Jan. 25) was trying to make; homosexuality is considered a sin.

However, God wants us to treat all even the least among us with care. I believe homosexuality is sinful and I would never follow a gay minister; but I would never be mean to a gay person.

God would never condone that. But for a gay person to try and teach the Bible and ignore the fact that they are forbidden in it is ridiculous.

That, however, is the problem with religion -- it's the Bible interpreted by man.
