Collegian pot articles insensitive to suspects
I am absolutely shocked at the two articles placed next to each other on the front page of Monday's Collegian. One article featured a story about 11 drug busts over the weekend. These drug busts could very well ruin many of these students' lives. Yet directly underneath this article was a profile series featuring a student who "finds enjoyment from lighting up." I find it extremely distasteful on your part to run a story in which George details the advantages of smoking marijuana while eight of the 11 drug busts featured in another article were due to the drug he so poorly defends. Shame on you for sharing the names and addresses of these 11 students and covering George's face with a cloud of smoke as he hits a bong. The caption underneath says it all: "George smokes a bong. He said he enjoys smoking in closets." How insightful. Journalism at its best. Brighid Zabel
