A State College woman allegedly assaulted a police officer early Saturday morning at Mount Nittany Medical Center, police said. State College Police Officer Kris Albright had a broken nose and swollen eye after Billie Jo Wilson, 23, allegedly struck Albright four to five times in the face and grabbed her by the hair, State College Police Sgt. Christian Fishel said.
Wilson is facing charges of simple and aggravated assault, driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of controlled substances.
Police said Wilson was stopped on the 300 block of west College Avenue after driving without headlights. After undergoing field sobriety tests, Wilson was then taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center for a chemical test which found a blood alcohol level of .198 percent, police said.
Albright said Wilson had about four grams of cocaine and two grams of marijuana on her person.
The alleged assault occurred when Wilson tried to leave a room in Mount Nittany Medical Center and was stopped by a State College police officer.
A Pottsville area man was arrested after an altercation Friday night at Player's Nite Club, 112 W. College Ave, said State College Police Sgt. Christian Fishel.
Travis Whalen, 22, attempted to push his way into the club, but was intoxicated and was denied entry, police said.
Police added that Whalen began arguing and struck one of the bouncers. He struggled with police, and a police officer sprayed him with pepper spray, police said. Whalen was then placed into a police car in which he kicked out the back window of the car, and was taken to Centre County Prison. Charges are pending for probation violations and resisting arrest, Fishel said.
