By using surveillance camera footage, State College police have obtained a description of the man who burglarized a Beaver Canyon business early Thursday morning.
Police are investigating a burglary at Canyon Pizza, 260 E. Beaver Ave., in which an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen and a Plexiglas door was kicked in.
Police began reviewing the recording Friday and have released a brief description of the individual suspected of the burglary.
"We're able to see that it's a white male with baggy pants and a hooded sweatshirt," State College Police Sgt. Mark Argiro said.
The tape also showed that the burglary occurred between 4:28 and 4:34 a.m. Thursday, Argiro said.
Only one person was involved, he added.
Police are continuing to review the tapes to better identify the suspect, Argiro said.
Argiro said the individual is encouraged to turn himself in to avoid paying additional costs for police efforts in reviewing the surveillance tape.
Cameras were installed in September 2003 at the intersections of Beaver Avenue and McAllister Street, Beaver Avenue and Hiester Street, and Beaver Avenue and Locust Lane.
However, this is the first time the cameras have been used in identifying a burglary suspect.
Beaver Canyon's surveillance cameras have been used by police to investigate street fights, though.
In a September 2004 incident, one surveillance camera failed to offer police any information regarding a broken window at the office of the Centre County Democrats, 236 E. Calder Way.
Anyone with information about the Canyon Pizza burglary is encouraged to call State College Police at 234-7150.
