Organizers are calling for a student "White Out" for this weekend's Penn State vs. Michigan men's basketball game at the Bryce Jordan Center.
The game, the first for the Lions since the spring semester started, tips off at 12:15 p.m. Saturday at the Jordan Center.
All Penn State students attending the game are encouraged to wear white to the contest, which will be televised by ESPN Regional throughout Pennsylvania and the Midwest.
Also, members of Penn State's Student-Athlete Advisory Board (SAAB) will be accepting donations on behalf of the American Red Cross' tsunami relief efforts at Saturday's game. Volunteers will be stationed at the gates 90 minutes prior to tipoff through the beginning of the game.
Boosted by four programs that participated in their respective NCAA postseasons, Penn State's athletics program is in position to earn its 12th consecutive top 25 finish in the 12th Annual Directors' Cup survey.
The Nittany and Lady Lions programs, guided by Athletic Director Tim Curley, are ranked 21st among the more than 300 Division I institutions eligible to be ranked. Penn State has finished in the top 25 of all 11 previous Directors' Cup surveys.
Points are awarded based on each institution's NCAA Championship finish in up to 20 sports -- 10 women's and 10 men's. Each national champion receives 100 points, while second place is worth 90, third is worth 85 (83 points for ties) and so on.
Three Penn State fall programs advanced to at least the second round of their respective NCAA Championships; a fourth competed in a national meet.
The No. 3 women's volleyball team won its eighth Big Ten championship and fell to UCLA in a regional semifinal.
The women's soccer team finished with a superb 19-3-1 record and also was seeded second in its tourney, but lost in the second round to Maryland, snapping Penn State's 39-game home winning streak. The Lions won their seventh consecutive Big Ten championship.
The No. 12 Penn State men's soccer team earned a first-round bye in the NCAA tournament, but lost on penalty kicks to Tulsa in the second round.
The men's cross country team was represented at the NCAA championships by All-Big Ten sophomore Dan Mazzocco, who also earned All-Region honors.
The Big Ten and Pac-10 are tied for first among all conferences with six institutions in the top 25.
The Emmy-award winning coaches show Center Court with Rene Portland makes its season debut at 10 p.m. Saturday on WPSX-TV.
The show airs again at 11 p.m. Sunday.
Center Court takes viewers on an all-access tour of the nationally renowned Lady Lions. Co-hosted by Lady Lion coach Portland and Anne Moss, WPSX will air a total of six episodes this season.
WPSX has won four Mid-Atlantic Regional Emmys for its work on Center Court, most recently in September when the show won for outstanding sports series.
In addition, WPSX and CSTV will televise tonight's game against Illinois at the Bryce Jordan Center (7:15).
