Semester bills and the cost of books may concern students, but recent Social Security controversy may urge students to look beyond this semester's finances.

The greek community will have to wait a bit longer for the creation of greek identification cards because of the social security conversion for new Penn State ID+ cards.

The State College Police Department is currently investigating a Jan. 5 incident involving a series of counterfeit Visa Travelers Cheques.

Construction on the new Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity house is underway, and the foundation for the first floor is expected to be built next week.

While Penn State enrolls hundreds of students from areas affected by the Dec. 26 tsunami in Asia, there have been almost no reports of students who were affected by the disaster.

Representatives for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Altoona-Jonstown and residents of College Heights neighborhood debated over whether a Catholic student worship and activity center belongs on a Park Avenue lot yesterday at a State College zoning hearing board meeting. About 30 people attended the hearing.

The future of the relationship between Dickinson School of Law and Penn State will be discussed Saturday at a meeting of the Dickinson Board of Governors.

A consultant to the borough recommended that a policy designed to help curb traffic problems be taken to step two with a focus on speed.

While most Penn State students have seen the thousands of little, white headphones dotting campus, Apple Campus Representative Carolyn Denomme feels many are unfamiliar with the computer company beyond its MP3 player, the iPod.

It was all leaps and bounds for the Penn State men's gymnastics team as the Nittany Lions routed Army 217.05-207.85 in their first meet of the season Saturday.

Most students arrived back in State College over the past couple of days, fresh off four weeks of rest and relaxation at home or on vacation.

To say things haven't been looking good for the Penn State men's basketball team would be an understatement.

Good teams are able to fight through adversity and find a way to win.

When Penn State women's basketball coach Rene Portland scheduled the nation's second-toughest non-conference slate, she wanted not only to produce confidence in her team's talent, but also to toughen it for a run at a third straight Big Ten title.

If Matt Ortega is right about his star player, Penn State fans can start figuring out all the clever word plays to describe Knowledge Timmons now.

When you enter some stores, you're not just being watched -- you're being mined.

When most people think of ice cream, a fat-laden, frozen confection is what often comes to mind, but participants of the 2005 Ice Cream Short Course this week will learn a lot more about what goes into making the dessert.

One question that probably doesn't come to most students' minds when they eat fruits or vegetables is where it was grown.

There has been a major focus on earthquake hazards since a magnitude-9.0 temblor and ensuing tsunami in the Indian Ocean rocked Indonesia and many other surrounding countries Dec. 26.
