Administration not responsive to e-mail
Lawrence Fischer's sports column ("Unseen obstacles hinder coverage," Dec. 10) suggested that if we don't like the way our football program is headed, we should send Tim Curley an e-mail about it. I do this pretty often. I understand that Curley's a busy man, but he seems to simply not care about what a lowly student has to say. His response to my first e-mail was a canned, "Thanks for your support of Penn State Athletics". His response to my second e-mail was, "Thanks for sharing." Now, he doesn't respond at all. My e-mails were in no way repetitive, and they were always very respectful. Come to think of it, I wrote these letters to both Curley and to President Graham Spanier. I know that Spanier trumpets his accessibility to students, and uses his public e-mail address as evidence of this, but he does not respond. Fischer's article makes good suggestions, and they'd be even better if we could get thousands of students to send e-mails regularly. For the moment, though, it seems that Penn State won't care about its students until they graduate and become rich alumni. Eric Fallabel
