"There are two traditions in my house, and I like them, but I don’t. One is my mom says that a man that doesn’t live in our house has to be the first to walk through our door on New Year’s Eve because that’s supposed to be good luck. The other is to eat black-eyed peas — I hate black-eyed peas; they look like eyeballs — at Christmas dinner to bring in the year right. It’s supposed to bring wealth and health and all that stuff."
