Best & Worst
Students tell us their favorite (and not-so-favorite) things

Best/Worst Bar

"The worst bar is The Brewery because they never have specials and there is never a crowd. The best bar is The Lion's Den because there are always specials and everybody is there. Also, the people that work there are cool and they never close early. Last call is when it should be; they let you have a good time."

Shawn Heeter

senior-journalism

"The Saloon is great because there are live bands and it is really clean. We went to Sports Café, where it was really dirty and had no music. There also wasn't a lot of people so you couldn't socialize."

Teela Ross

junior-marketing

Best/Worst PSU football moment

Worst: "The second game through the second-to-last game."

Michael Kozeniauskas

freshman-information systems and techonology and computer science and engineering

"The blow-up doll at the Homecoming game because no one was looking at the game and was looking at the blow-up doll instead. It was on collegehumor.com."

Chris Bamber

freshman-finance

Best/Worst speaker

"I like [Howard] Dean because I saw him speak before and I wanted him to become the presidential candidate. He had some really good points and his arguments about both candidates were well put together. There was also a lot of enthusiasm from the crowd."

Juna Ndreu

freshman-chemical engineerng

Best/Worst apartment complex

"The Lexington House on University Drive. I don't have to deal with the noise that is Beaver Canyon"

Meshall Thomas

senior-chemical engineering

"I live in Toftrees and I love it because it is very quiet. I don't have to fight with parking being too expensive downtown."

Brooke Walker

graduate-counseling

Best Concert

"The best concert was Ludacris during the summer. It was just the feeling you got when you first walked into the Bryce Jordan Center and realized you were surrounded by all Penn State students. Ludacris was also a really great preformer and I met a lot of people there. The worst concert I saw was Yellowcard because I really didn't like the music."

Jamie Hodin

freshman-advertising and
public relations

"The Dave [Matthews] concert was the best because they used the entire Bryce Jordan Center -- not just a part of it. We also got an encore and started a 'We Are ... Penn State' cheer."

Joe Clancy

freshman-agriculture business management

Most controversial event of the semester

"It has to be between the presidential elections and Galen Foulke being impeached. But I would have to go with the presidential election because political ties in Washington D.C. run deeper than here. It was a close election and people were not middle ground voters. Both candidates fought hard because there were so many swing voters. I'm from Ohio, so it actually mattered a lot."

Brian Ault

sophomore-architectural engineering

Best late night TV

"Family Guy is the best because it's very entertaining. It is just an overall good show. The worst has to be Sea Lab 2021 because it is very odd."

Jonathan Mitchell

freshman-electrical engineering

"You know those infomercials that are on at 3 or 4 in the morning? Wow, I hate them."

Lucas Simonetti

sophomore-information systems and techonology

"Carson Daly is the worst late night TV because he has no personality."

Adam Bruhnke

junior-finance

Best/Worst
fashion trend

"I had a black North Face jacket. It was hot but then everyone else got it and I was no longer unique. So I switched back to my North Face from a year ago which was red and black. I don't hate North Face, but just that its everywhere around campus."

Andrew Samitz

freshman-advertising and public relations

"I hate those Ugg boots. The UG is for ugly, it doesn't matter what color or season; they are just ugly."

Blake Williams

sophomore-theatre

Best late night snack

"Canyon Pizza with ranch because it tastes so good, especially when you're intoxicated."

Todd Dennison

sophomore-recreation and tourism management

"Ramen Noodles because they're extremely cheap ... and a gallon of water because it is even cheaper."

Jake Fye

sophomore-mechanical engineering

Best/Worst beer

"I like my beer like I like my women; cheap and tasty. So naturally I reach for [Miller] High Life."

Brian Halpin

sophomore-information systems
and techonology

"Dos Equis Amber is the best because it's smooth and has a sweet taste. Beast Ice is the worst because it doesn't taste very good and burns on the way down."

Eric Dickinger

junior-psychology
