I am deeply offended by Monday's editorial ("With charges nullified, Foulke should change constitution for USG" Mon., Dec. 6). I am a proud member of the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) Academic Assembly, the branch of USG that students have become so fond of attacking in the past few weeks. We as a body felt that we had definite justification in impeaching Galen Foulke; it had absolutely nothing to do with so-called "personal vendettas" and "play politics." I am also offended that the student body went out of their way to write letters to the Collegian complaining about Academic Assembly, yet they did not come to us themselves. Students need to realize that we did not feel Foulke was accurately representing the student body, which is his job. Foulke was found not guilty on all charges of impeachment, so many feel the trial was a waste of time. I feel that it was important to investigate and present said charges because Foulke did not address these issues when Academic Assembly tried to confront him about them before the impeachment occurred. To the student body: I greatly apologize if you feel that Academic Assembly has done you a disservice through this impeachment. However, we felt that what we did was necessary to better represent you, the student. We only had your best interests at heart. Regardless of the impeachment, Academic Assembly has never stopped working for the students; so please, keep this in mind before claiming that we are so "terrible."
