Paterno needs to step down for Willingham
Hire Coach Tyrone Willingham to be head coach of the football team while Coach Joe Paterno glides easily into a secondary role on the team. It's the best of both worlds. A new, young, fresh head coach that will garner instant national attention, and we still get to hold on to the friendly face of the Nittany Lions for the past half century. Here's how it plays out. Paterno steps down as head coach due to personal reasons. "Let's face it folks, I'm not getting any younger," or something like that. He would like to remain with Penn State as long as he can though, so would love to take over the job as a recruiter. Any high-schooler in the country would be honored to have Paterno ringing the doorbell for a sit-down chat. If the traveling is too much for him, make him head referee-chaser. He has proven over the past few years that he's still got the fire. If the running is too much, get him into the booth to help with team strategy. He's still a great coach, there's no denying that, but it's just a good time to hand over the reigns. John Zengel
