Katsu and Jared Campbell will join up and coming band Bridges and a Bottle when all three arrive at Crowbar, 420 E. College Ave., tonight.
Bridges and a Bottle is on tour in support of its recently released debut album.
Band members say they relish the chance to play the Crowbar again.
"We played the Crowbar with Virginia Coalition about five months ago," Justin Smith, one of the co-vocalists and songwriters for Bridges, said.
"It was a great show, and the Crowbar has a really good sound, so we're looking forward to coming back, definitely," he added.
He said that as a pop-rock band, Bridges tries to focus more on the music itself rather than attempting to get its live crowds going nuts at shows.
"I think what we strive to do is we're a very song-oriented band," Smith said. "A lot of bands these days are under the impression that the best material they can write will make people mosh and stuff. We're the kind of band that if a person likes listening to good songs they'll enjoy us...I think we're rock and roll but we're not like 'we're gonna rip your freaking head off,' you know?"
Bridges pulls many of its musical influences from a wide array of legendary rock bands, including The Beatles and Pearl Jam, as well as a selection of other groups.
"As a band we're very influenced by a U2 meets Oasis type of sound; we have that dueling lead vocals thing going," Smith said.
He added that he could only hope everyone, especially people who previously have not heard his band, leave the Crowbar tonight with a newfound respect for Bridges, as live shows are where he believes the real fans are made.
"We give [the crowd] all of us; we have our certain sound on the album, but live is no holds barred," Smith said.
Jared Campbell is another fairly new artist who has caught the attention of many people with his first full-length album Rest Out, but now he will be doing anything but resting in order to play several shows over the next month and a half.
Campbell last played in State College when he was invited by Katsu to play a recent show at Crowbar that featured two former stars of MTV's The Real World.
"They brought me back for The Real World show; it was a blast," Campbell said. "Katsu was already booked to play and they invited me to come join them, so yeah, it was a great show."
Campbell has seen his share of crazy antics since he has been a performer, but one incident in particular continues to stick out in his mind.
"I was on stage one time, and got mobbed by like four girls. One of the girls jumped on stage with a video camera and tried to make out with me," he said. "They had to get security to come take her away," Campbell added laughing.
While he has played with Katsu a few times, Campbell is very excited about playing for the first time with Bridges.
"They're really talented guys," Campbell said. "I'm really looking forward to playing the show with them for sure."
Katsu frontman Dennis Fallon said his band is also excited about sharing the stage with Bridges.
"All of the bands playing [tonight] are connected through our label; we've played with Jared before but never Bridges and a Bottle," Fallon said. "We're really looking forward to it though."
He added that Crowbar's general crowd is always great, and different from many other college crowds in a bar/stage venue.
"It's great to play a show where the people are there to listen to the music and not just there for the drink specials," Fallon said.
Tickets can be bought at Crowbar and on its Web site (www.crowbarlivemusic.com) for $5. The show starts at 9:30 p.m.
