In response to the article on diversity ("Diversity doesn't filter outside classes," Thurs., Dec. 2), diversity classes may not change with whom Penn State students decide to socialize, but the classes may help to shape attitudes. After leaving Penn State, many graduates will reside in areas that are more ethnically diverse than they have previously encountered. Likewise, issues of diversity may be present on a daily basis in their places of work. Lessons learned while gaining knowledge about diversity may be put into practice after graduation.
