NEWS

Despite some criticism that ideas from diversity classes are not translated well enough into the real lives of students, some faculty and staff members contend that the requirements are still needed, and are constantly re-evaluating their standards.

Impeachment charges brought against Undergraduate Student Government (USG) President Galen Foulke were voted down early yesterday morning at a joint session of the USG Academy Assembly and Senate.

Last night, former CBS reporter Bernard Goldberg told his audience that the media "looks down everyone's throat for a living."

Diversity requirements being pushed by the Penn State administration are not necessarily trickling down to students' social life on campus.

Oh, the weather outside was frightful yesterday as Old Man Winter blew hats, gloves and Penn State students around the State College area.

A newly proposed federal policy may require universities to give the government more detailed information about individual students, which would conflict with Penn State's recent efforts to protect students' privacy.

SPORTS

If you've gone to watch a weekend of Icers hockey at the Greenberg Ice Pavilion this season, your home-team's goaltender on Friday was different from the one between the pipes on Saturday.

The plan was to get away from the game of hockey for at least a week. You know, spend some quality time with the family and stuff your face until implosion is on the verge. But more importantly: get healthy.

In its first big test of the year, the Penn State men's basketball team stepped up to the challenge with an impressive 83-80 road victory over Rutgers (2-1) at the Louis Brown Athletic Center in New Jersey.

Some athletes begin to play hockey because of its demanding requirements of agility and stamina, while others may relish in its physical nature.

The Penn State football atmosphere was suddenly chummy -- it was right after that uplifting Michigan State game and all -- and defensive end Matthew Rice was about to take advantage of it by describing how amped he is for next season.

Though they might not have known it, the Lady Lions have Franklin Delano Roosevelt to thank for their nine-day reprieve since last Tuesday's game against Duquesne.

ARTS

The first casualty of war is innocence.

Recently, many musical artists have collaborated on tracks and side projects.

Learning can be done in a multitude of settings and experiences and Extremities, a play by the No Refund Theater, is an example of this.

Many people know him as Spence on CBS's The King of Queens, but what Patton Oswalt enjoys the most is stand-up comedy. Oswalt has released two full-length comedy albums, and his credits include many guest-starring roles in sitcoms and small movie roles.

Starting off the season for holiday activities, members of the State College community will come together to create innovative Christmas trees at The 10th annual Festival of Trees.

Bringing its unique fusion of bluegrass, country, folk, funk, reggae, roots rock and everything in between, Big Leg Emma is coming to the Crowbar, 420 E. College Ave., Wednesday at 8 p.m.

With slow and then sudden sharp movements, one dancer appears scared as she attempts to push away a group of dancers enclosing in upon her.

Last weekend while I gave in to all temptations and exercised my right to shop 'til I eventually dropped from exhaustion, I found myself in a most peculiar predicament.

All right, all right.
