Letter to the Editor
National newspapers cover larger issues

In response to Angeliki Vgontzas letter ("Paper needs to cover more serious issues" Tues., Nov. 30), I don't understand what the big deal is. The Daily Collegian is a student newspaper. Its sole purpose is to educate students about what's going on around campus. The readership program at Penn State includes three other newspapers that talk about torture all the time -- the New York Times, USA Today and the Centre Daily Times. Though torturous themselves, these newspapers do report on what's going on around the world in sports, business, government, the arts, etc. If you want a paper to talk about the real issues, then pick up a copy of a national newspaper. Quit yapping and come to realize that the Collegian is focused around student issues and not what's going on in the rest of the world.
