Letter to the Editor
Appreciation needed for people who help

For starters I would like to thank Allen Tingley ("Holiday provides time to spread some appreciation" Mon., Nov. 22) for once again making us college students look like spoiled brats. Now for the real thanks the people on this campus deserve: Thanks to the Office of the Physical Plant for your hard work. Thanks for getting up at all hours of the day to clear the snow off the roads and sidewalks for class. Thank you to the construction workers who are building up our campus. I know by the time I roll out of bed at 8:30 a.m., you have been up for four hours building structures for a bunch of kids, who never say thank you.

Thanks to the Housing and Food Services for feeding me every day when I lived on campus.

Thanks to the Centre Area Transportation Authority bus drivers. You put up with a lot, especially on weekends. I've never once heard a bus driver complain about lazy kids who ride the bus one or two stops. I thank you University Police who wander the campus in the dark and cold so I can be safe at night.

I thank you Nittany Lions for putting on a kick-butt football game on Saturday. I know you've had a rough year but you showed us all the value of never giving up. Thank you mom and dad for giving me an appreciation of hard work and sensitivity. Some on this campus lack that.
