Man charged in roommate assault

Penn State student Zhaohui Huang (graduate-physics) was arrested at 10:30 p.m. Sunday after repeatedly punching his roommate, Ling Han (graduate-electrical engineering), on the left side of his face and chasing Han with a snow shovel with the intent to strike him, police said.

The incident began in the pair's apartment, 907 Southgate Drive, when Huang allegedly entered Han's room and began to verbally abuse him. It ended when Han fled the apartment and called police from a nearby pay phone.

Police said Huang is in Centre County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Huang is being charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment.
