I'll have to admit, I wasn't overly upset when I opened the paper and saw that Undergraduate Student Government (USG) President Galen Foulke had been impeached. After all, last spring Matt Antonelli and I were beaten very badly by Foulke and Luke Adams. But when I started looking into things, I realized something more important than my feud with the administration. People are not only jaded to USG now, they seem to downright hate the organization. Why? Political in-fighting. I think it's high time people put aside petty differences, stop thinking politically and start acting on the only thing its supposed to -- improving student life. I'm not saying you have to blindly support anyone. You need to call someone out when her or she is wrong, but this is getting ridiculous. I have no doubt that Foulke could get stuff done for students, as the rest of USG could. I think everyone should calm down, put personal differences aside and act like professionals. There's a lot of people out there who feel like me. I much preferred the days of old when the USG stories would be about cool events coming up on campus, or the implementation of a new policy to help stop sexual assaults on campus or something.
