Police responded to a fight in progress on the 300 block of West College Avenue, which began after a man drove over a pedestrian's foot early Friday morning.
According to the State College Police Department, the driver was attempting to turn into a driveway at 312 W. College Ave., and in the process, he ran over a pedestrian's foot.
Police said the pedestrian was walking and talking on his cell phone at the time.
According to witnesses, the driver then exited the car, cursing at the pedestrian, and the two engaged in a physical altercation.
The two men exchanged punches, and the pedestrian suffered a cut over his eye. He also complained of pain in his foot and was examined on scene by paramedics, but he refused treatment.
Police said the driver was bleeding from the mouth because, during the fight with the pedestrian, his teeth had been knocked back into the roof of his mouth.
The driver was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center, where police said he was belligerent with police and medical staff.
The incident is still under investigation with charges pending.
State College police are encouraging any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to call 234-7150.
