NEWS

Seeing live reindeer for the first time ever was a confusing experience for four-year-old Daniel Cullin.

Missi Lau does not want to see leftover crossword puzzles and other trash tossed on classroom floors, and she is determined to let people know how she feels.

This was a nauseating feeling.

A state representative who had sponsored legislation that would prohibit certain benefits for same-sex partners and unmarried heterosexual partners will have to wait until the next session in January before the Legislature considers a similar proposal.

Room and board rates for the 2005-06 academic year for Penn State students at both University Park and Commonwealth Campuses will be finalized at today's Penn State Board of Trustees meeting.

SPORTS

This was a nauseating feeling.

Two of the key cogs for the Penn State men's cross country team this season will be running their final cross country races for the Lions tomorrow in Van Cortland, N.Y.

The Penn State men's swimming and diving team will look to gain valuable experience for its young freshmen while keeping its upperclassmen sharp during an away meet at St. Bonaventure today.

You could say that the season starts today for the Penn State women's swimming team, when they hit the pool for a 4 p.m. meet at St. Bonaventure.

It's hard enough to face the No. 2 team in the country in your first game of the season on their home hardwood, and lose by 15 points. It's even harder, then, to have to go on the road again and play in the most infamous arena in all of collegiate sports against another top-ten team.

Most Big Ten men's basketball programs usually wouldn't have reason to fear a home opener against an opponent from the Patriot league.

Anyone that's familiar with the Penn State ACHA Div. I Icers knows that watching it win only one of its last four games is highly unusual.

One down, two to go.

Derek Wake has seen this all before. He's been up close to this scene for the past four years, taking in all of the emotions involved, studying how people react.

Pleasant plane rides home -- this team hasn't had many of those.

If there are boos when his name is announced on senior day, Zack Mills will be ready for them.
