The National Field Hockey Coaches Association released its all-region selections this week, with four Nittany Lions receiving honors. Seniors Amanda Eckert, Bekah Hostetler and Michele Rigby were named to the Mideast Region first team, while junior back Sara Cahill was selected to the second team.

The announcement came less than two weeks after Cahill, Eckert and Hostetler were named to the Big Ten first team, and midfielder Kiersten Wood was recognized as the conference's freshman of the year.

Of the honors bestowed upon her players, Penn State coach Char Morett said, "I think they're all extremely well deserved. I'm very proud of them, and I think it said a lot about the way they played this season."

Eckert will play in the North-South All-Star game at Wake Forest tomorrow, while Rigby is an alternate.

"I'm really happy about it because it's an honor," Eckert said following her selection to the North team.
