Real World: State College
'Real World' cast-members MJ and Cameran come to Crowbar

For The Collegian

Fans who missed The Real World: Philadelphia's M.J. Garrett a few weeks ago at the HUB-Robeson Center have a chance to see him again.

This time around, Garrett will be bringing along fellow Real World alum Cameran Eubanks, the bubbly Southern belle from the San Diego season.

The two will be hosting an all-ages party featuring musical group Katsu at the Crowbar, 420 E. College Ave., Monday night. The party starts at 9:30, and Garrett wants all of State College to get ready for it.

"You can expect some major partying from both Cameran and I," he said. "We're both known for this kind of stuff from our shows. Bring cameras and get ready to have some fun."

Those who attend can expect lots of partying, and Garrett and Eubanks should be ready for questions.

"I've heard it all," Eubanks said. "Everyone wants to ask questions about the show and try and get all the gossip."

Along with getting together with Eubanks for gigs, Garrett has also met up with fellow cast mate Sarah Burke.

"At first, people get pretty confused when they see us out because our show is still airing," Garrett said. "People think that the show is filmed and aired at the same time, but I've been done for about two and a half months now."

Since Eubanks and Garrett have finished their shows, they have teamed up with consultant and agent Chris Kolaskos to help them launch their careers.

"Both Cameran and M.J. are such chill people; they're laid back and love to have fun," Kolaskos said.

Garrett said the reason many people from Real World and Road Rules tour the country is because they are part of the "MTV Brand."

"A lot of us start talking at different colleges about our experiences," he said. "I talk about diversity and how I learned to get out of my comfort zone when I went on the show. I'm a small town boy from Tennessee who ended up living with two gay roommates and three girls. I learned to understand where people come from."

As for Eubanks, she has turned in her MTV card and is sticking with traveling to different college campuses.

"I was just asked to do the next Real World/Road Rules challenge but turned it down," she said. "Different promotional companies hire us to go to different locations to talk about their product, and that's what I like ... the challenges are for some people, just not for me."

Garrett, on the other hand, is excited to try his hand at the challenges.

"I want to do one challenge," he said. "It seems more for me than the Real World, but I don't want to be pigeonholed as someone from MTV. I want to get into hosting."

Monday night will be a good opportunity for Garrett to show off his hosting skills. However, he has a challenge for anyone who caught his birthday episode when his alter ego, Muja Star, came out after one too many drinks.

"If we party hard enough on Monday, I think Muja Star will come out and protect State College," he said. " I want to see people dressed up as Muja Star, but maybe without the Speedo. If people dress up as Muja Star, then I will definitely bust out the cape and underwear."
