Columnist overdramatic about election results
I would just like to ask Elizabeth Hunt ("Democrats need to keep voice of dissent in U.S." Fri., Nov. 12) to wake up and take a look at the world. She seems to have never read the Constitution, because she actually believes that the cabinet holds power. But in reality, they are advisers that the president wants by his side. She also calls for a "council that votes upon all major decisions." In the real world, we like to call this the Senate. And last time I checked, they still do vote on major decisions and laws. These are called bills. Unlike Hunt's ideal dictatorship on the way to communistic utopia, this country is still run by three different branches of government, all holding the same amount of power. And lastly, Hunt calls for the education of all non-informed voters. What this means is that all people who didn't vote how Hunt wants them to will be re-educated and forced to believe how she wants them to. Yet again, this isn't the Soviet Union during the Cold War, so this will not fly with us. You cannot force opinions or actions on anyone. God bless America. Springer Wahl
